What is Foley?
Foley is the art of recreating human movements & interactions with objects on-screen, I sometimes think of it as the "Invisible art" because, to a large extent it goes unnoticed by the viewing audience, however, if it were missing you would certainly notice because the scene would appear lifeless. Typically Foley includes footsteps, clothing movements, body movements, object handling & more.
